During the New Life Prayer and Fasting Journey, prayer is scheduled at the church building most evenings, but if you can’t make it, no worries. In place of corporate prayer, create a plan to dedicate time each evening to pray at home or during your break time at work (Psalm 55:17). Or, if you wish, find an accountability partner and schedule with them a meeting time and place to pray (James 5:16). Once you develop your plan for prayer, commit to it (Eccl 5:2). Keep in mind that this journey is a special occasion where we dedicate extra time to God.

If you have been a member of Merced New Life, then prayer is nothing new to you. You should already have a consistent prayer schedule set in place that you were informed about during your new converts lessons. Hmmm. You say you’ve never gone through new converts? Speak to your friendship group leader and schedule your lessons today!

Now, let’s get back to the main point of this article. To reiterate, our goal in this journey is to spend extra time with God in prayer. If you dedicate fifteen minutes to prayer each morning, then commit another fifteen minutes or more to “prayer and worship” in the evening.

Don\’t make the mistake of comparing yourself to anyone else when it comes to prayer (2 Cor 10:12) . Don\’t get disheartened by sister or brother so and so who prays three hours a day. This is your personal time with God (Isaiah 1:18). It\’s your opportunity to draw closer to him, to seek his guidance and pray for your needs and for the needs of those you love.

Of course, if you are able, we’d love to see you at corporate prayer.
