Fasting Guides and Testimonials
Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
During your time on earth, you\’re only going to have one body and one mind. Although you may feel well and good right now, your body and mind need to last a lifetime, so take good care of both. Let\’s focus on the body for a moment. Your body is not evil. Your body is a holy vessel that houses the Spirit of God. As stated in 1 Corinthians 6:19, your body is on loan, and it doesn\’t belong to you. You were bought with a price, meaning that God has invested a great deal into you, so make good on his investment.
1 Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God\’s.
I\’m sure you\’ve heard of the term \”garbage in and garbage out.\” Whatever you put into any system, it will produce similar results. Your body is no different. You may be well-meaning and enthusiastic in your desire to serve God but if you are running on the wrong fuel or break down, how much good can you produce? How effective will you be? 1 Corinthians 6:12 says \”All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.\” In other words, just because it\’s convenient to have donuts in the morning, french fries for lunch and pizza for dinner doesn\’t mean you should. The Apostle Paul says, \”I will not be brought under the power of any\” because he is relying on the power of the Holy Spirit to help him do what is right and good. That\’s why it\’s so important to pray, fast, and read. It keeps us connected to God\’s strength and power.
1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Corporate Prayer and Fasting is a special time for the New Life Apostolic Church congregation. This is a time of repentance, renewal, and revival to develop within the body of Christ. Various forms of fasting are permissible and encouraged, as there may be health conditions or complicated work schedules involved for some individuals. There are many examples of […]
The Merced New Life Prayer and Fasting Journey commences on January 4, 2021. For those choosing to participate, that leaves a short time before the start of scheduled corporate fasting. It\’s a good idea to begin eliminating foods now! Sugary foods, foods high in fat and caffeinated drinks should be reduced or eliminated from your diet. In doing so, the unpleasant side effects brought on by fasting such as fatigue, nausea, and headaches can be mitigated. Easing into the fast by eliminating foods now will set you up for success while following any fast outlined in the Prayer and Fasting guide.
\”As you go on this journey with us, you will experience a new found connection with God. Your heart and soul will be intimately renewed by God\’s Spirit. Your spirit will come alive! Your prayer will become more powerful. You will experience breakthrough\’s in areas of your life that have been difficult. Don\’t miss out!\”

Set your intention for your fast and don\’t allow others to deter you from your spiritual goals regardless of how much they protest.
The Alabaster Box
The women who broke the alabaster box, pouring the precious ointment on Jesus\’ head, had her intention set! She didn’t allow the ridicule of onlookers to discourage her. When those who watched became indignant, viewing the use of the ointment as a waste of a precious resource, their protest fell on deaf ears (Mark 14:3-5).
The woman knew full well that she had entered the home of a Pharisee, where Jesus was, and she knew that they viewed her as a sinner (Luke 7:37-38). Regardless of their distain for her, she continued with her intent, \”and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the ointment.\”
As a result, Jesus said, \”And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.” (Mat 26:13)
When you understand your purpose for fasting, you won\’t be easily swayed from your goal.
Jesus honors those that honor him.

The health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.
